Project #10 Translate Device

Description

Glassdoor is a website where current and former employees anonymously review companies. And also allows users to anonymously submit and view salaries as well as search and apply for jobs on its platform. However, when I look up the salaries, I find that the salaries sometimes higher or lower than the average salary in the industry that I know. Since Glassdoor salary information is self-reported and not verified, While some Glassdoor users share accurate information about their salaries, some users do not. Experts note that the website attracts employees who may be dissatisfied with their jobs, who use the website as a place to rant or vent grievances. therefore some salaries data are likely not correct.

Design Process

The principle of considering context is, in some ways, the most plainly applicable to the salaries. People subjectivity can affect the accuracy of the data. At same time, I was also curious to see how different genders would make the data show changes. So I think it will be interesting compare the data of Glassdoor with more accurate data, Such as payscale.com and the Bureau of Labor Statistics. And to see the difference between self-reported data and real time data of genders, and visualized it.

As you can see on my sketch, the yellow dots represent the different salaries of Glassdoor. And bottom dot means the lowest salary, top dot is the highest. The lines represent the salaries data of Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Reflection

Same as the proejct Data Json, this is also a really useful project for me. And I will continue doing this proejct in the future,
