Project #5 Anti-Surveillance Tool

Description

Project desciption: Use the principles of steganography to encode a secret message that can be decoded through instructions. Steganography is the practice of hiding information under plainsight. Techniques such as the invisible ink, microdot, knitted message, or the anaglyph are just a few examples of how one might bypass information under disguise.

Taking Chinese history and culture as inspiration, I chose to use ancient poetry as the elements of my project. In feudal ancient times, people were not allowed to discuss imperial power and officialdom. Because it will get punished or executed. But in that era, some poets used allegorical descriptions to show social phenomena at that time.

The farmer is such a poem. Every day before the stars fall, he goes to the fields and works hard. When the crops are about to be harvested, the whole family is happy. But in the end, all the harvest income will be exploited by the officials. The family cannot survive and don’t know when he will sell his wife and children.

In this project, there is no specific audience. All those who understand the social phenomena at that time and those who are in this social phenomena. It can understand the author's deep meaning through this poem.

运锄耕劚侵星起，陇亩丰盈满家喜。

到头禾黍属他人，不知何处抛妻子。

"Every day before the stars fall, he goes to the fields and works hard. When the crops are about to be harvested, the whole family is happy. But in the end, all the harvest income will be exploited by the officials. The family cannot survive and don’t know when he will sell his wife and children."

I chose to use Bi Zhang's poetry as key design elements of my project. He is a poet of the Tang Dynasty, this poem is a typical allegorical poem. In the struggles of real life, taking typical event which is a life of farmer and vividly depicting them in the form of allegory, deeply exposed the unreasonable phenomenon of the cruel exploitation and oppression of the people by the feudal rulers. So I add mouse interactive in my project, the whole design's context is talk about a farmer's life if it without mouse interactive. However if use mouse interactive, you can see the whole context change into different meaning which is oppression.
